Getting a bank statement into a spreadsheet by hand is miserable. This tool reads a text-based statement PDF and gives you line-based CSV in your browser — a file that opens straight in Excel or Google Sheets when you just need the text in columns to tidy up yourself. Nothing is uploaded.
The hard part of a statement is the transactions: date, description, amount and running balance, pulled cleanly from whatever layout the bank used. That's structured extraction on the API — and it goes a step further and reconciles the result, checking that opening balance plus credits minus debits equals the closing balance, so you know the data is complete before you trust it.
What does the reconciliation check do?+
It verifies that the extracted transactions actually account for the change from the opening to the closing balance. If the numbers don't tie out, you know to review the statement before using the data.
Can I convert a bank statement to Excel?+
Yes. The browser tool gives you a CSV file, which opens directly in Excel or Google Sheets. For structured transactions with the reconciliation check, use the API and export its JSON to Excel.
Free tool vs API for statements?+
The browser tool extracts the statement's text as line-based CSV. The API extracts structured transactions — date, description, amount, balance — and runs the reconciliation check.
Can it read a scanned statement?+
Scans need OCR. The browser tool is for text-based PDFs; the API can process scanned statements.
Does it work with any bank?+
Statements vary a lot between banks, so structured extraction on the API is the reliable path — it reads the transactions regardless of the specific layout. The free text-to-CSV is more of a starting point you may need to clean up.
Can I get the transactions as JSON instead of CSV?+
Yes. The bank-statement API returns structured JSON with the transactions and the reconciliation result; CSV is easy to produce from it.
Is this safe for financial data?+
Text-based statements convert in your browser without being uploaded. The API processes statements server-side — see the docs for how requests are handled.
How do I automate statement processing?+
Send each statement PDF to the bank-statement endpoint and store the returned transactions. See the API docs.
Why are my columns misaligned in the free CSV?+
Line-based extraction doesn't know a statement's column structure, so wrapped descriptions and multi-column layouts can misalign. Use the API's structured extraction for clean, columnar transactions.
